Wednesday 18 July 2018

.

Barnsley Brewery Celebrate Turning 15. The team down at the Wombwell based Acorn Brewery are celebrated their 15th birthday. It was last week in 2003 when the Cask Ale Crew produced their first brew of the much renowned and multi award winning Barnsley Bitter. So now that Acorn Brewery is well into its teenage years, the brewery boys and girls have been developing a Decades range, which has involved the public naming the beer. Christy Hughes (Director of Business Development) said ‘The Decades range has been rather exciting. We want to involve our customers in the brew process, we thought what better way to do so by inviting our customers to name the beer, with the winner’s name featuring on the pump clip. So far, we have run three competitions with a further three to take place, watch for more details on Social Media.’ Acorn marked their 15th year of brewing by holding a party at the brewery, they were joined by customers, supplier, family as well as, Stephanie Peacock MP of Barnsley East. Dave Hughes (Managing Director) said ‘We’re starting our 15th year on a real high, we have refurbished the brewery in preparation to open the Acorn Brewery Club, which all the team are very excited about. The last Friday of every month we will be inviting our customers to join the Acorn Brewery Club, giving everyone the opportunity to come along and enjoy a pint of two here at the brewery. The past year has been an excellent one for the brewery with new members joining the team and now the introduction of the Acorn Brewery Club. Acorn now regularly brews and sells around 30,000 pints of beer a week. They supply to over 400 pubs in the UK, all the major supermarkets and also export a range of beers to Italy. Currently a consignment of ‘Yorkshire Pride’ beer is in the brewery waiting to be shipped to Southampton bound for one of the P&O cruise ships, making Acorn a truly global beer!
