Spring Stroll
Spring Stroll. Saturday 2nd May.
As the weather warms up and there are more hours of daylight an opportunity for a gentle walk and to sample the offerings of some Barnsley area pubs.
Starting from the Boatmans Rest, Worsbrough, we shall move from there to the Ship Inn, possibly stopping to have a look round the mill on the way. Once finished in Worsbrough we will walk to the Strafford Arms, Stainborough, and, weather permitting, enjoy their beer garden. From there we will make our way to the Station Inn at Silkstone Common. Those that want to call it a day from here can make their way back to Barnsley either by train or bus. The rest of us will continue on to Silkstone where the Red Lion and The Bells await.
The total distance is approximately six miles, much of it following the Trans Pennine Trail along the dismantled railway.
Timings: Meet at the Boatmans Rest at 11:30. Step off at 12:00.
Public Transport: The 2, 7, 66, 67 and 67a buses provide services to Worsbrough. From Silkstone Common the number 21 bus and the train travel to Barnsley and from Silkstone the 20 and 21 buses can get you back to Barnsley.
