Club Of The Year Wortley Men's Club

This multi award winning Club has for the 11th consecutive year been awarded the Barnsley CAMRA Club of the year award. Situated in the pretty village of Wortley on the outskirts of Barnsley, this amazing club was once the village reading rooms. Today the Club is at the heart of the local community hosting regular events such as a weekly quiz, regular entertainment and a popular annual beer festival which returns this year from the 21st to the 23rd of July. The Club offers a fantastic range of four cask ales sourced from local and regional breweries. On hearing the news steward and stewardess Nigel and Teressa Pickering were over the moon. Barnsley CAMRA recently held a presentation afternoon which was greatly supported by the local community. The committee paid their upmost thanks to the stewardess Teressa who has stepped up working additional hours due to a shortage of staff ‘We would like to say a huge thank you to members of the Clubs Committee, all our Club members and to CAMRA for their fantastic support during the last twelve months. During the presentation we were treated to an excellent choice of four real ales all from local or regional breweries. It was great to see the club busy with members coming together to support and celebrate this fantastic club. The club will now move on to be entered into the regional round of the competition and Barnsley CAMRA wish them the best of luck.
